The Red Note: the stories behind the femicides in Ciudad Juárez PODCAST

A group of journalists and filmmakers created The Red Note / La Nota Roja, a podcast that takes us into the stories behind the femicides By Subrayado MX Staff

In Mexico, around 10 women are killed daily, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.

Crimes against women have not stopped despite the criminalization of feminicide or the creation of specialized prosecutors, which has led to massive feminist movements.

In Ciudad Juárez, where this epidemic of crimes against women began that has spread throughout Mexico, a group of journalists and filmmakers created The Red Note / La Nota Roja, a podcast that takes us into the stories behind the femicides.

La Nota Roja, the scars of femicides in Mexico

La Nota Roja or The Red Note is the effort of a team made up of journalists and filmmakers from Mexico and the United States who traveled to Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua to speak with relatives of victims of femicide.

And they also approached researchers, authorities and academics, to understand the origins of femicides, which have spread throughout Mexico due to corruption, impunity and machismo.

The Red Note is the podcast resulting from the investigation, which shares the scars of drug violence in Juárez and the stories behind the femicides. Listen to the podcast The Red Note / La Nota Roja on femicides in Mexico here:
