The fourth episode of The Red Note covers the years 1997 through 1999. During this period, authorities in Juarez brought FBI profiling legend Robert Ressler to the city in the hopes of ending the femicides. The episode also looks at the phenomenon of human trafficking along the border, and explores how sex trafficking contributes to the problem of the femicides.

Facing widespread protests over his handling of the femicides investigation, Chihuahua’s governor invites FBI profiler Robert Ressler to Juarez in the hopes of solving the serial murders. Host Lydia Cacho examines how sex trafficking grew into a lucrative revenue stream for Mexico’s drug cartels, fueling the disappearance of hundreds of women each year along the border. Local residents are hopeful that the appointment of Suly Ponce to lead Chihuahua’s femicide task force will be a turning point in the investigation.

Luego de las multitudinarias protestas por la falta de resultados de las autoridades en el tema de feminicidios, el gobernador de Chihuahua invita a Robert Ressler, agente del FBI, con la esperanza de hallar soluciones. Lydia Cacho narra y examina cómo el tráfico de personas creció hasta convertirse en uno de los negocios más lucrativos para los cárteles del narcotráfico, propiciando la desaparición de cientos de mujeres cada año en la frontera. El nombramiento de Suly Ponce como Fiscal Especial a cargo de los feminicidios en Chihuahua significa una esperanza en la resolución de las investigaciones para los residentes de Ciudad Juárez.
